NOTES ON PAINTINGS:

There is a poetic narrative in my work. With images that are reminiscent of postcard landscapes and slathered on/scraped off gritty - sometimes luscious - paint I am talking about broad open spaces and bricked-in furtive back alleys and asking the question "how does knowing one affect the understanding of the other?" I am sounding resonances of memories of the prairie landscape - the wind, vistas, seas of grass - and putting them up against urban realities of place and surface. It is an attempt to express what it means to inhabit this place.
