Ben Darrah is a visual artist whose work focuses on the poetic nature of colour, form and texture and in particular orphaned cultural references, such as traditional camouflage pattern's wide spread non-military use in urban settings.

Darrah was born in London, England and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1968. He grew up in Edmonton, Alberta and graduated with a BFA from the University of Alberta and received his Masters of Fine Art at the University of Windsor. Between degrees Darrah travel widely while making and studying art. During 1988/89 he used London, England as a base for travels throughout Europe, including visits to Turkey, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Greece, Austria, Holland and France. Upon his return to Canada, Darrah set up his studio in Kingston, Ontario and wrote art reviews for the alternative newspaper, Between the Lines. In 1991 he spent six months with artist Veronica Desjardins at the Fuenté Studios in Competa, Spain. Darrah 's professional credits include Manager of Gallery One in Toronto's Yorkville district and teaching at the postsecondary level at the White Mountain Academy in Elliot Lake. In 2002 Darrah returned to Kingston and to a fulltime career as an artist with part-time teaching stints at Queen's University (2004) and ongoing at St. Lawrence College.

Adept in a range of media, Darrah's work incorporates painting, assemblage, installation, print and photography. He also teaches, curates and writes about art. He has shown in Ontario and Quebec and his work can be found in private and public collections. He lives and works in Kingston, Ontario.
